Club History

“The San Francisco Latino Democratic Club was established in the early 1980’s just after Diane Feinstein was elected” as stated by Al Borvice, one of the original SFLDC members.

It was reestablished on August 10, 2010, by a group of San Francisco Latino Community Leaders looking to bring a unified voice to address the issues of the Latino Community.

On February 23, 2011, the San Francisco Latino Democratic Club was rechartered as an official Democratic Club of the San Francisco Democratic Party.

In 2019, the San Francisco Latinx Democratic Club authored and led a resolution at the CA Democratic Party to allow non-citizens membership into the Democratic Party, allowing non citizens to run assembly district elections. In 2021, Sen. Anna Caballero authored SB 714 to allow non citizens for democratic county central committees.

In 2020, the San Francisco Latinx Democratic Club authored and ran a volunteer campaign for Proposition C "Commissions for All", allowing non-citizens to serve on city and county commissions.
